Could someone give me numbers and letters off of a 1968 427/390h.p. engine pad. I am use to C2's and it appears the 68 I am looking at has the complete vin. What is supposed to be stamped on the pad?

John, If it is a Corvette, I think you will find that "1" stands for Chevrolet, not just division. 2 was Pontiac, 3 Olds, etc.

Re: 1968 427 engine pad
Second stamp on the pad will identify the engine and will be TmmddXX with T as the plant code of the Tonawanda engine assembly facility, mmdd for the month and day the engine was assembled at Tonawanda, and XX as the big block suffix code.

Re: 1968 427 engine pad
The big block suffix code for a 427/390 should be IL for manual or IQ for automatic.- Top
