    My 1976 arrived at the dealer in May 1976. It came with Firestone white letter, steel radial 500s. Within a couple months Firestone replaced them with 721 steel belted radials.

    My neighbor was not so lucky. His son was killed in their Corvette when one of the Firestone 500s failed. I had mentioned to him only a few weeks previous that he could get new replacement tires from Firestone. I only wish that I had been more forceful in my statement on those 500s. I still have a lump in my throat as I recall the issue.

            I just got off the phone with a friend, and he told me he had 6 of the Firestone 500's that he was taking to Carlisle.
