    Help! on 57 distributor

I am rebuilding a distributor out of a 57 with 2 X 4 carbs P/N#1110891. I pulled it apart and not surprising, it needs a mainshaft and lower bushing.

I have checked what I consider all the normal sources and googled until my eyes crossed-no mainshaft. Can anyone give me a source to buy a new shaft?

Also, the adjustable mechanical advance set-up. Although, the adjusting nuts are held in a captured lock, they are not adjusted in the same position within the slots. Does anyone have any info on how to adjust? I have a Sun Distributor testor, but none of my books have this P/N for the advance mapping, so any info would help.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Mike -

Have you tried Grossmueller's and Mary Jo Rohner?

The 891 centrifugal advance map (crankshaft degrees and rpm) is:

    1* - 5* at 800 rpm

    19* - 23* at 2600 rpm

    26* -30* at 3700 rpm

Mike, there is an 891 distributor on the flea right now, two days left, might be worth a look if the parts are good. The shaft is part number 1935503 (group 2.372) same part used in dist #1110872, and 1110879.

        Re: Help! on 57 distributor

        Thanks, guys:
John that is exactly what I needed for the advance mapping-Thanks.

Bill, thanks for your help. Actually found a good used shaft from Al @ Chicago Corvette for what I thought was cheap.

So, with both your help, I can fix this customer up with a ReNued distributor for happy motoring of his dream Vette.
