    That is almost 75 days.
Here's a thought, add an online 'For Sale' section for those who want to stay current AND keep the Driveline print edition for people who want turn pages...but instead of FOR SALE items, change it to SOLD items, that way everyone stays happy.
    Thanks.

They might as well re-title it that now. There is such a disparity in the time that the paper issue arrives (up to several weeks) that they post it LIVE on this site to make up for it. However, they say that only a small percentage of members ever come to this site or can even spell c-o-m-p-u-t-e-r, so how does posting it here make any difference to those that receive the paper issue?

My vote is for on-line for sale ads. My clock is ticking ..... I might not live long enough to sell all my sh*t . (lol).

Re: "For sale" section thread missing

So far, we've seen lots of posts from those who want to see a for sale section and some from those who want it but offer reasons why it will never happen.

Is there anyone out there who feels there is a good reason for not having it? Can any of the Mods offer any? How about BOD members? Well...we're waiting...

                Ron,

Read my posts in this thread and then tell me about the reasons for not having a for sale section. Or maybe I am being too subtle? If so I can "speak" more clearly.

Not active means, has not participated on the forum, period.

But it might be, that most people don't bother to come back because the desired for sale section is missing!!!

                      Rob,
Let's try to get to the heart of all this:
If a member registers on-line for an event -- does that mean he is registered on the TDB in your count? Do you count that member as participating in the forum?

How many unique members visited the TDB per day during January? That is if I visited two or three times a day I want the number that counts me and anyone else who visits several times a day only once. Can you provide that number?
                      Terry

I agree Terry, what does 26% active actually mean?

I look at this different than many do.

Shortly after Terry departed as our Corvette Restorer Editor the magazine became a news stand rag, in other words it was in the eyes of many a magazine you could pick up off the news stand at will. The membership revolted and the fact that we were a publication company became rapidly evident as many complaints were received by the board of directors as a result changes were made. The result we have our Corvette Restorer back it’s graduated to full color and is a very unique nitch filling publication that many enjoy and utilize.

The NCRS web destination I look at in the same light, it’s unique, it does a great job of filling the needed void, it fills a need for our membership and provides services needed just as intended. It’s not a chat forum just as it was never intended to be. Like the Corvette Restorer it is not filled with advertising and drivel that I can find on most other online forums. Personally I like what it has evolved too and have no desire for the funds I provide in my membership fees to be used to fund a discussion board that is like every other forum on the web.

The online driveline more than fills my need, by the way I’ve owned, driven, and restored as many special interest cars as most true enthusiasts. I’ve never to my immediate memory taken advantage of the 50 word free add and probably have bought less than a hand full of parts out of the Driveline in 35 years of membership. The Driveline is now four times the size of its predecessor from the late 90’s and is also in full color thanks to an excellent dedicated editor and great bunch of advertisers and good members.

Call it old fashioned, call it whatever you want, I don’t have a vote on this subject when it comes to the decision, I do however have an opinion. That opinion is I like it just like it is. I like the Corvette Restorer, I like the Driveline and I like our NCRS Web Destination. Given a chance to express my opinion I don’t want any of my membership dues going to develop or support a change that makes this web destination like every other Corvette/special interest/collector car related forum on the web.

My .02 and I’ll stick by it.

Personally I wouldn't want to provide a for sale functionality using this forum software.

Ideally I would like to use some, off the shelf, purpose build software to be used to offer classified ad functionality so it would be better suit this task. Misusing this forum software to offer a classified ads functionality would, in my opinion, not be the right approach. I think these options should be explored first before a decision is made if, and how, the NCRS should deliver a online classified ads functionality.

PS in in previous post I tried to explain what the 26% meant. It meant anyone of the current online membership who ever made a posting on this forum.

This is why I rarely come here. I want the social aspect along with the tech. I have 2 young kids and will not have time in my schedule to go to big NCRS events for the next few years. Kids sports leave us with very few free weekends. So I enjoy the social aspect of CF. you can't get that here with this format.

I am awestruck at the numbers being mentioned for percentage of NCRS members without email. Why limit access to classifieds to the lowest denominator?

592 members anticipated on the TDB since 1/1/2013

For the other members we apparently we can not make it interesting enough with the current content to come back...

My last post on the subject, it time to get the head out of the sand and figure out how to make an online for sale work. Wasted 10 seconds of time typing, but that is my opinion of the subject. During the last five years I served on the BOD, I heard many requests for (1) online Driveline and (2) allow for sale ads to be on the web site.

Best recollection, I have never purchased anything using the Driveline because my needs were more immediate. Purchased and sold parts using one of the other forums and sale sites.
