I bought my '67 new and all knobs are of the mushroom type. I like the BB delete deal but do have the BB hood after running into a truck.
Dan O: my serial # 17534 started down the line on April 19 taking delivery May12th in Zone 13. Just wondered how close our cars were in that line?

#17842 is the number, final assembly is (as I believe it) May 5th.

Back in the day (60's or 70's), if you left your car unlocked, the neighborhood kids WOULD eventually steal the dash knobs out of it. Most people would go to the junkyard or dealer to get replacements. If the were the right ones, fine; otherwise, anything that fit would be good enough. When these were just used cars, people didn't care if replacement parts were 100% correct; all that mattered is that they fit.

Those are words of wisdom. All too often, 40+ years later, we agonize about whether our cars are an anomaly because of some parts difference, when it was probably caused by what you just said. If I broke the glass in the outside rear view mirror on my 1966 Ford, I went to a junk yard and got one that fit the mounting holes...or not!
