    Rare 57 Corvette BJ auction.

How many things can you find wrong with this rare optioned 57 Corvette?

    http://www.barrett-jackson.com/application/onlinesubmission/lotdetails.aspx?aid=363&ln=657.1&pop=0&it=1

I found 7 right off the bat starting with "numbers matching with a block casting date after the build date of the car", very rare...

It looks like there were many donor cars to build this one.

I wonder if anyone proofread that bit of nonsense after they wrote it.

I thought BJ and NCRS were partnered up on Corvettes like this in all their auctions, what happened to the NCRS inspector?

Very bad misconception! NCRS does NOT inspect cars! What NCRS is doing is just verifying that the car has the awards the owner claims, and the date of the award, and if it is a Chapter, Regional, or National award.

NCRS does not certify cars. The award has a disclaimer that basically states that the award in granted on the opinion of the judges for that day. Timeline is like that of an appraisal.....for the day performed only..

I have information on that serial number car it from out of Maryland, it was restored back in 1990's , it was a nice driver , don't think it was restored to a hi end NCRS level , hope info helps.........I have pictures from earlier life.

OK, thanks, good to know that nuance. I have seen the NCRS booths at BJ, just never stopped by to see what was going on, guess I should sometime.

              Adam,
I agree with your comments that the car was probably restored as a driver.

The problem in my mind is that the car is misrepresented as though it is a high end restoration of a rare car.

It has lots of wrong components (oil pan, horn relay, mirror and more) and they forgot to put the Fuel Injection emblem on the trunk.

Typical hype to sell a car to the uninformed.

A little of topic but I noticed that BJ is now allowing reserves at for their consignments at Palm Beach if the owner wishes.

                      Mike,
Should a radio delete car have a capacitor on the generator?

no . nor on the coil or voltage regulator.the plug wire stands would be there but no stainless/chrome shielding if radio delete. and i don't thinkl there would have been ground straps of the exhaust system. regards, mike
