Hey guys,
I have an issue with my pass side power window system. The window has been out at the time of repaint last March. The tracks and mechanism were reasonably cleaned and relubricated. The motor was replaced about a year ago and the window probably has not been operated more than 50 times since the motor was replaced. The regulator and tracks are original. Weatherstrip is new after paint. Window adjustment appears to be right on as checked by shop manual and Corvette Central Tech section. Glass is not too tight and moves smoothly against the anti-rattle bumpers. With the door open the motor runs the window right up with just the slightest slow down at its final movement to the stops. With the door closed the window comes down easily but on the upstroke the window slows and stops about an inch from the upper stop as it starts to really engage the weatherstrip and therefore leaves a one inch opening and that's as far as it will go. The switch and wiring are all new as well. Left side operates normally.
I'm hoping for ideas. My guess is that the recoil spring on the regulator is worn out. My understanding is that the spring helps the motor move the window up by alleviating some of the load on the motor. Anyone have any other ideas. I am hoping for some thoughts before I have to tear into the door. I really appreciate your help as always.
Brad
