Time for a New Soft Top

    Good morning,
I decided to treat myself to a new soft top for my red/black '65. It currently has a white vinyl top in decent condition, but I'm picky so it's time for it to go. Also, I will paint or powder coat the frame while I'm at it. From what I've read, the Stayfast top is the way to go. I know that it doesn't come in white, but my car was born with a black top so I'm ready to go "back to the future". I live in South Florida, and was looking for suggestions of a good installation shop. Also, should I buy the top myself and have someone install it, or should I let the shop do the job turn-key? Is Al Knoch still the top of choice, and if so, do they offer Stayfast tops?

    Your suggestions are appreciated,
    Roger (50141)

If you attend any big shows, Al Knock is there installing tops but you need an appointment WAY in advance. Good luck, Don H.

I just bought a white top from Al Knock for my 62 and had a local shop install it and it looks great. They told it fit very well, only problem I have is that there's a gap between the rear deck and the bottom of the top but the installer told me my latches were a little sprung it wasn't pulling it down all the way. Not too concerned though, not going to see any rain.
      Good luck w yours,
      Jim

        Don and Jim,
Thanks for your replies. Al Knock seems to be the vendor of choice, so I certainly feel comfortable ordering from them. Since the Winter Regional in Central Florida is a little too far for me to drive from South Florida in January, I will look for a local shop to do the installation. Do either of you recommend the Stayfast top over the vinyl top, and does Al Knoch offer both?

        Thank you,
        Roger (50141)

When I called Al Knock, they didn't even suggest a stay fast option. My only criteria was that I wanted it to look original and pass NCRS judging when the time comes. Plus they shipped the next day and that was with a dated window.
          Good luck,
          Jim
