I finished restoring my leaf springs recently and since my original springs had undercoating on them, the last step was spraying them with undercoating from a rattle can. Since that time, I read an article that stated that undercoating was a dealer added option. The only factory-installed undercoating was inside the fender wells and front of splash guard (sound deadening I assume).
Is this correct? Yes answers = I remove the asphalt-based undercoating from both sets of springs.
I believe paint thinner will remove the undercoating, but not harm the paint. Opinions welcome.
