    Convertibles with AC

Is there any data on how many 67 convertibles have AC? I have seen the production numbers by option. It seems likely to me that there would be a higher percentage of coupes with AC than convertibles. Im sure there are many options that are usually paired.
    Thanks

Options are listed by total production, coupes and convertibles. I suppose someone could extrapoliate the number by figuring the percentage of coupes vs convertibles, but that would be a very large SWAG

Thats what I was thinking too, any calculation would be extremely inaccurate.

Mark -- you are correct; more coupes (2235) than convertibles (1553). These figures come from NCRS pocket spec guide. In Noland's Vol 2, the breakdown is also by body type, by engine and by transmission. Example: 138 '67 A/C convertibles with L36 and M35. [page 405]

I read an interesting tidbit somewhere: The '63-'67 Corvette Sting Rays, of their era, were the most powerful cars in the world with factory-installed air conditioning.

For '63-'67 Sting Rays, factory A/C is considered rare. Noland Adams states that due to the late-offered C60 option, only 278 '63 Sting Rays had it and he guesses that only ~50 convertibles had A/C . Be aware that A/C was a $422 option in 1963. That is more than $4,500 in today's dollars (adjusted for inflation). I wonder how many people, today, would spring for factory A/C if it was not standard, and pay an extra $4,500 for it? As in 50s and 60s cars, only the expensive ones would have factory A/C and you would see more cars either with no A/C or with the aftermarket (dealer-installed) A/C that we saw on cars during the 70s.

Noland Adams's book, page 405, states that 3,788 (16.5%) '67 Corvettes had factory A/C installed: 2,235 coupes and 1,553 convertibles. The installation rate (as a percentage) of A/C in coupes was ~26.3% and in convertibles, it was ~10.7%. So, you are correct that the coupes had a higher A/C installation rate, more than double that of convertibles. -Clark

I would say 99.9% would buy A/C if it wasnt standard, Phil 8063
