    C1 Rotisserie - help

Working on the body of my 1960 and looking for ideas for working on underside.

    1. Is there anyone that has made an adapter for putting on a rotisserie?

    2. I have seen in past posts - turning the body on it's side against a wall (sitting on soft inner tubes?)

any suggestions of sketches (or photos) of rotisserie adapters would be appreciated, Dan

    Daniel,

If you have the body on a metal body dolly, it is very easy to weld fixtures to the dolly and attach the rotisserie. It all depends on how the rotisserie is designed. I will send you PM with photos.

      Daniel,

With everything off etc. a body can easily be rolled/flipped onto it's side with old tire cushion underneath the body and lean it against a wall.

        Gary:
Do you use old tires or inner tubes?
Do you just anything to protect the fiberglass from the ruber? (tarp maybe).

        Dale:
I got your photos...they look great, but my dolly is made of wood not metal like yours.

          Daniel,

Old tires with no rims. Body was stripped, no protection between the body and tires was required.

            Daniel,
I used the rotisserie on the sides ( C2 )instead of front to back.Iit would not rotate all the way but it would go high enough for me to sit under it and tilt it.

Even in a shop with a lift the rotisserie lets you take your time especially when the car is disabled.

My pics are at the shop or I would post them.

I think the cost was about 1400.00 . When the car is on my dollie I use the rotisserie to rotate my doors so I can assemble them and paint them. The adapters were easy to make.

I've done it that way several times with no issues at all. Works great. Got the idea from an early "Corvette Restorer" issue.

If You are looking to buy a rotisserie, here is a company that most likely won't show up on a google search; Greg Smith equipment sales@gregsmithequipment.com I bought and picked up one of their rotisseries about five years ago for $832, this was at the time, slightly over 1/2 the cost of some competing models. The model I got is very sturdy and has wheels, hydraulics, & it is power coated. Some companies base models are bare metal with no wheels or hydraulics. This company has seven location in the US, and also sell lifts and other automotive equipment. Hope this helps!
