My 84 is suppose to have a shift kit as installed by the last owner when he had it rebuilt.. However the car shifts like my 99 Chevy luminia. It shifts nice and smooth weather driving slow or at WOT. The transmiisson had this kit installed when rebuilt about 10,000 miles ago by the last owner. I have heard from other Corvette owners that the transmissions in C4 's shift different than the standard one in Chevrolet passener cars. That they are more aggressive. Does my transmission or the shift kit have some kind of adjustment ?

Re: What is a shift kit
My advice would be to contact the previous owner to determine the name brand of the kit he/she installed. With that information, you can then look it up on Google and read what the intent of the kit was supposed to be.- Top

Re: What is a shift kit
While you are at it, if you could get the bill form the previous owner it might be of some enlightenment. The Corvette version of the trans was unique to the car, not externally but internally.Bill Clupper #618- Top

Re: What is a shift kit
A shift kit is a modification to the trans that can adjust the points at which the trans shifts (rpm's) and also the way it shifts smooth or hard or anything in between.
Other changes are also possible.
Adding to what Bill C. said, I have a car 700R4 trans in which some Corvette parts were installed such as the servo and other parts which I don't fully understand.- Top
