    NCRS Judging Question

I have an early 1970 Corvette that was built on Feb 25th 1970. I don't have a jack for it, but found one that is dated January 1970. Because these things aren't cheap, would this work if I were to have it judged or would I need to find a Feb 1970??

    Thanks in advance
    David

    Re: NCRS Judging Question

David, the general rule of thumb for dates is if it falls within the previous 6 month's of the car's build date, it's acceptable. I have an early '70 also, Jan 9 build and the jack date is Sep '69.

Thanks so much for the info. The jack I found is kinda rusty in spots. Do I leave it or restore it? My car is very original and am thinking of having it judged next year for survivor.

'Survivor' is the Bloomington Gold event. Bowtie is the NCRS event for unrestored cars but you're not supposed to build one by assembling parts from here and there. This defeats the purpose.

          David,
A jack with a January 1970 ( AO) would fit well with your Feb built car and should judge just fine. I just saw a very original Jan 1970 car (VIN # 08XX) and it had a December 1969 jack in it.

My 1970 #2161, Jan 29 date on the trim tag, has a jack dated M9. December 1969. I can assure you it is the jack that came with the car when I picked it up from the selling dealer in February 1970. I believe the January 1970 dated jack would be perfect, from a date standpoint, for your car.

My '71 has a build date on the body tag of December 14, 1970, and it has a December 1970 jack. Although I bought the car when it was almost 8 years old, I don't have any reason to believe the jack had been changed out.

                Hi David,
New member and fairly new to the TDB!
                WELCOME!!
After looking at your other post about your car's TCS parts I see what appears to be at least the engine of a nice unrestored car. With that info in mind perhaps a jack with a little rust on it would look appropriate. It's very nice to see a car on which the condition of the parts all blend together without a few parts here and there standing out as obviously new or restored parts.
Have you gotten the 70-72 Technical Information Manual & Judging Guide? There's lots of great info in it, it's available from the 'store' on this site, AND, I think you'll find it's well worth the $.
It would be great to see a few more pictures of and hear a bit more about your car.
                Regards,
                Alan

PS: I just looked back at some of your other posts and see I already suggested you buy the TIM & JG a few days ago. Obviously I didn't remember that post, but the second WELCOME! still goes!

Thanks Alan! The book is on my "list". I am currently putting together an album of my car and all of the numbers. I will post a link when it is done. Right now I'm just trying to enjoy it as much as I can before the Michigan snow hits. All of you guys have been great and are fueling my enthusiasm towards the hobby!
