My lower a frame shafts are natural, the large washers are natural, the mounting bolts, lock washers and nuts are zinc plated. the shaft bolts and lock washers are grey phosphate. The uppers are configured the same way. should the shaft bolts and lock washers be black phosphate Thanks Jeff

The phosphate finish varies due to how old the batch is so the plating can be black to a dark grayish look also age his a factor. But I would lean toward a more black look for the shaft bolts and lock washers.

That should be an easy fix to remove the four bolts and lock washers and replate them. I will ask for a fresh batch to get dark. Thanks Jeff

I would also like to add in addition to what Paul has already made mention of. All 1968 thru 1970 Corvettes had a very thin flat washer on the bottom of the lower front control arm hardware. This went on first, then the lock washer, and then the bolt. Not all Corvettes, but most of the original Bowtie/Survivior cars I have seen have the upper shaft, bushings, and washers painted black with a black oxide plated bolt. The lowers have a natural shaft, never painted and the bushings and hardware are also natural with a black oxide bolt and lock washer. If it is a 1968-1970, the flat thin washer was plated as well.

Thanks for the info, I think I am going to leave my upper shaft natural. I have the metal protected. Jeff
