Re: 1955 early 1956 heater box pictures
do you have the squirrel cage assembly or is all you have is the heater core? if you don't have at least the squirrel cage assembly you best start looking for a 54 heater assembly on ebay. i have seen the whole assembly sold for a couple hundred dollars as recent as two weeks ago. i can provide you with pictures both on cars and with the assembly apart if you send me your email address.GUYS i am restoring an early 1956 #76 and need pictures of the early 55-56 heater box. i purchased a 55 heater and a correct shut off. Re: 1955 early 1956 heater box pictures
BTW the round Y outlet that the defroster distribution hoses attach to was also used on passenger cars. I bet the top of the box was also the same. So you might check wrecking yards for 52-54 Chevy's.- Top

i have the y outlet the motoer bolower housing. there is a pressboard box that was mounted onto the heater that the diffuser is connected to. This doesnt look anything like a passenger heater box. i purchased the assmbly diagrams for the 53-55 and they dont have pctures either.- Top

They are completely different animals - complete re-design when they went to outside air during the 56 production build. And I can tell you the 53-55s were pretty bad. In cold wet weather the inside would fog up so bad you could not see out - and if you wiped it down it would just fog up again almost immediately. -Dan -- Top
