    Alan,

It's good to know there's another out there who is possessive about their ride. I don't like other people driving my Corvette any more than I would like other people sleeping with my wife. And don't get me started about valet parking...

Re: How long have you owned your corvette

Unlike most on the thread, I have only owned my current C3 for 51 weeks, it will be officially one year next Friday the 26th.

I had owned five different C2-C4 Corvettes from 1976 to 1992. Bought my first C3 when I was 19 and still living at home, sold the last C3 in 1992 and had not owned another until last year. Not really sure why the big gap in ownership other than "life", but three years ago I helped a friend put a '70 project coupe back together and I knew I was hooked.

Spotted my current C3 on CL last year and purchased it from the original owner in Portland OR. The car had been driven hard until 1991 then sat in an unheated tool shed for 23 years. Cosmetically the body/paint of the car is pretty rough but it has turned out to be a very original, unmolested car. Over the past year I have been concentrating on mechanical issues while trying to document and preserve the originality of the car.

Attended my first NCRS event at the Tacoma Regional last year and decided it was time to join. I will also be joining the NW region and have Bend OR., on my schedule for 2016.

Just reread my own post and realized I had misstated the purchase date. The car was delivered to Jim Rathman Chevrolet in Melbourne Fl in September of 1966. I purchased the car used in September of 1969. Restoration is 95% completed.

Purchased my 62 summer of 63. Still own it. Used regularly for cruise nights, shows and some trips which included a trip to the 2012 National Convention at San Diego. Still has original paint, chrome and most of interior.

Re: How long have you owned your corvette

I finally found the cars that were meant for me or they found me. Something like that.

I was a new owner of a 63 convertible about 2.5 years ago. It was out of state with no history. I'd never sat in one before. Long story longer I pumped a bunch of money into it. It was a costly education but in the end I've learned a ton and met some great new friends and that was worth it.

A little over a year ago I saw an ad for two cars for sale. Turns out it was a recent widow that had finally come to grips with selling the cars. She lives on the same street just two miles awAy.

The 70 LS-5 was the exact model and options I lusted after but never thought I would own. We made a deal and I've put 1,200 miles on it in the first year. I love it and in the process learned that big block cars were for me.

Flash forward to two weeks ago. I made the deal for her second car a 66 BB 425hp Mosport green coupe. Sold my 63 and won't look back.

I am so thrilled with the 66 and the way it drives I can't tell you.

I guess it was meant to be.

No no more cars for me. Can't get any better

I really enjoyed the slide show of your '73 L82. My first Corvette was a '73 L82 equipped exactly like yours but was red. I purchased it in 1985; it was a daily driver with 90k miles, but it was original, mostly all there and a lot less expensive than the 70-72 cars I was considering.

I loved that car, and grew to appreciate the improvements introduced for 73 that added to real world enjoyment- rubber body mounts, no complex wiper doors, mean sounding cowl induction, steel door reinforcements, added insulation, innovative use of front cross-member as a vacuum tank, fixed rear window providing more luggage space, coolant recovery, and that unique, cool looking, one year only body design.

And I really enjoyed the L82-M20. What a sweet motor that ran well on marginal gas. I always thought the 73-74 L82 Corvette was a great tribute to the small block's reputation for all-round performance. It has the convenience of a hydraulic cam, the comfort of AC, and the simplicity of the Quadrajet- all while delivering about the same street performance as the LT-1.

I really wonder why the market doesn't value the 73 as much, or even more, than the 70-72 models.

Bought my first corvette in 1979: 1965 coupe with side pipes. Went in partners with my son who was a high school student at the time. He blew the engine drag racing.
