    1969 Fan Shroud Issue

390HP with A/C. Working to install new DeWitts aluminum radiator to replace my leaky copper rad. I completely removed the rad., shroud, support and A/C condenser. I tried to upload a photo showing my issue, but no luck. There is a gap of about 9/16" between bottom of the new rad and the new bottom shroud seal (from Doc Rebuild). This gap is at the bottom/center. Approximately 1/4" at each end. Same gaps with the old radiator. The fan shroud number matches the AIM. It's like the bottom of the shroud is bowed downward.

Is such a gap typical? Can anything be done to tighten things up?

    Thanks,
    Mike

My 390HP with Ac shroud had the same bow your talking about, I think over time with heat, they bow. I ended up getting a new shroud to get the seal from Doc rebuild to work

If heat contributed to the bow effect, I wonder if I can heat that area (gently) to restore it to its original shape. Of course I don't have 40+ years to wait.

Paul, where did you get your new shroud? Happy with it?

      Thanks

Very common with these shrouds. Personally I think it is nothing to worry about.
