    396 emblems

I am drilling new holes in my upper surround for my 396 emblems . I made tracings of the holes on large sheets of paper with all the measurements before removing the old surround , I also have photos . the left side is about 1/8 inch lower than the right and both sides are level to the body line . I believe these were hand drilled at St louis . I have a few photos of other 396 cars and on many of them the emblem goes uphill in the front . The judging manual or the assembly manual does not give measurements . If anyone has original fenders could you measure from the body line to the bottom of the emblem bar and check to see if its level . My car is a St Louis car . thanks

    Bill,

I believe that would be correct. I don't think the C/L's of the two lower holes are in the same plane as the body horizontal peak line. If you look at the AIM, the body side view peak line is not in the same plane as the emblem holes. (at least for the 66 427 emblems)
