Calling All 1996 Collector Edition Owners

Again, we are revisiting the 94-96 Judging Manual section on Exterior Paint Codes.

I am asking the owners, if any, of 1996 Collector Edition Models to look at their Service Parts Identification Label and let me know what the WA# paint code number is on your label. We have identified GM 13-WA# 9566 Sebring Silver Metallic and recently WA# 9021 Silver Metallic, light Grey which is shown in data bases as a color for the 1997-2000 model.

What is interesting is both 9566 and 9021 have the GM code of 13. All the data bases that I have reviewed (and I am sure there are more) show the U13 WA# 9566 as Sebring Silver Metallic for 1996 and U13 WA# 9021 as Silver for 1997 to 2000.

Also the window stickers for the 1996 Collector Edition call for an exterior color of Sebring Silver.

Trying to determine what the WA# is on actual Service Parts Identification Labels for 1996 Collector Edition.

It may not be of any help for the judging manual, but I do still have my original document dating back to March 7th of 95 concerning the Collector Edition car. Note the color is called out in the letter. Sebring Silver. Notice it also calls for silver door handles. I also snapped a photo of a pre production unit when it was here on the carrier. Note the blue cover over the emblem. At the time, no one had seen one. I took this pic in June of 95.

Tom, once again thanks for all your help.

Your documents clearly show the exterior color for the Collector Edition to be Sebring Silver with an OEM Code of 13. This color was exclusive to the Collector Edition.

I am still hoping someone out there can look at their Service Identification Label and give me their WA# paint code number.

Also, was this stuff in your desk?

Hi Pat, my '96 Collectors Edition's Parts Service ID Label shows paint code of "13U" and "WA # U0921". The Build Sheet shows "PAINT-UPR 13U" in the paint field and "13U SEBR SILVER" in the message area. The Window Sticker shows "SEBRING SILVER EXTERIOR PAINT". My car was #1867 with a build date of 08/07/95. Hope this helps.

I am attaching a photo of another Service Parts ID Label and it also shows a paint code of 9021, however there is no WA# prefix before it.

I have discovered another data base and it states that the paint code of the Sebring Silver Paint was WA9021.

This has really gotten confusing as the original data base showed 9021 as a DuPont Paint and the WA designator was 9566, which is the paint code shown in the 94-96 Judging Manual. This the reason this survey started to determine the correct paint code for the Sebring Silver Paint.

So far, no Service Part ID Label has WA# 9566.

Pat,

In a recent judging school where we looked at a 1996 Collectors Edition, the number on the label was 9021. The number in the judging manual is 9566.

To clear up the confusion, I sent a note to Tom Barr and his respoonse indicated the 9021 is correct.

Brian, thanks for your response. It was confusing at first at to what the correct paint code was for 1996 Sebring Silver Metallic.

However, since folks like you have responded to this survey and other communications with Tom, this change will be made.

Phil, I probably will be getting back to you on another question. That concerns your build sheet.

In the photo there is no sequence number directly under the VIN on the lower right hand side.

However, I am doing two other projects at this time, but I will get back to you.

Anyone else out there with a Collector Edition that can help us out. ?

The Build Sheet is from NCM. I thought it was an exact copy of the original but if not, maybe that would explain why there is no sequence number?

Phil, my understanding is that the Build Sheet you get from the Museum is an exact copy of the original.

I have a lot of build sheets in my achieves and starting in 93 the format us late C4 guys are familiar with began to appear.

I received a copy of my build sheet from the Museum and it is an exact copy. I was able to retrieve some of my original build sheet from the top of the gas tank. I know there is another copy in the front somewhere, but I have not found it.

I am attaching some photos for your review.

Also, I am showing the location on top of the gas tank from other photos.

I would not say your build sheet is wrong.

I am still on the Collector Edition looking for stuff and when I have time I will get back to you for some more information.
