And here are the last pictures.

As you can see, there are sometimes also broken wires. I really have to go through this mess

    Thank you.

Ruedi, not that I want anyone to spend money, but I would not trust that harness. I would replace it. I know your costs are higher than here but I just put a new harness in my 63 for 165 US Dollars. It's from M&H. Here is the link. http://www.wiringharness.com/

At the same time I would check the others, rear, headlight, headlight pigtails and the main dash harness. If any of the wires are cracking or brittle I would replace them forom a pure safety vantage point.

        Re: 63 electrical connections quesions

        Hello Harry

I just made up my mind that I will replace the engine harness with a new one. It looks very brittle compared to the one in my 60 or 70. There were also many repairs.

Regarding wiringharness.com, I also heard of Lectric Limited, produces also correct reproduction harnesses. What could you recommend me for my 1963 w/o AC 327 Corvette?

        Thank you again

        Ruedi

          Re: 63 electrical connections quesions

I just installed a whole vehicle set of harnesses in my '63 w/o AC from Lectric Limited. Had no issues. Granted, the car hasn't been given any power or started yet!

My experience with Lectric Limited has been very good, but they still may not judge without some deduction. Probably a good portion of the harnesses our suppliers sell are LL harnesses. Its just if you want to replace all the harnesses in the car you will spend a lot of money on wires. But if just one old wire shorts out and burns the car, then it is money well spent.

Dan, I've done a comparison of LL and M&H and in my opinion M&H is closest to the original.

                Hi Harry,

I have no experience with M&H, but like I said, I think LL will have some problems judging, from what I have heard. One thing is the tape may be wound backwards, from the original. Don't know. It would be good if the OP (Ruedi) will provide some feedback after he re-wires his car.

                  Re: 63 electrical connections quesions

                  Hello

As the car is a driver, I just need to have correct colored wires, if it is not 100% identical to the original, that's not too big of a problem. I will do this for safety reasons, the old harness, especially in the engine room is very hard and brittle.

                  Thanks for the replies.

So Ruedi, sounds like you could go with either one. You might then base your decision on cost. Please let us know what you do and how well it turns out.

I know about the hard - brittle wires. They are bad, and must be replaced.
