As part of my Corvette education, I have downloaded the 1962 Corvette News magazines from the GM Heritage website. In the Number 5 (Volume 5) edition, there is a picture of the actor George Maharis (of the Corvette themed Route 66 TV serie) with his personal FI 1962, black with red interior. Would anyone here know that car chassis number or of it's current existence? The reason I am asking is that in the process of finding about the history of my car (through Bill Gould of Auto Ancestry) we were told the following:
The dealer code is zone 01-000.
Chevrolet Zone Office
Flint, MI
This means it was a car that Chevrolet ordered and was used in this zone by a VIP/employee or for a special display.
The downside is that without a dealer or invoice to a purchaser for example, it is impossible to go back to the original owner!
