    Early authorized Corvette dealerships

In 1957 there were only certain Chevrolet dealerships that were authorized Corvette dealerships with a special corvette sign etc.
Does a list of these exist anywhere. Was V.V.Cooke Chevrolet of Louisville the only fully authorized Corvette dealer in 1957 in the Llouisville greater area including nearby Ohio counties of butler and Hamilton

      Re: Early authorized Corvette dealerships

I know in Ontario Canada as an example all 1957 Corvettes had to comne through the only authorized Corvette dealer in Toronto that was Gorries cHev Olds. In western new york it was Glen Campbell cHevrolet. The other chev dealers could order the cOrvette but the car on paper and sales first came through the authorized Corvette dealer in each Zone area. I know there was a rating system of A , B and C deallers in each Zone ans even up to 1967 the Corvettes came through the A dealer on paper even though physically delivered to nthe for excample C dealer.
In other words there were allotment rerstrictions because I order a 1967 Corvette and twice had it grabbed by the A dealer in my area before I got the third one delivered late in year.

      Thanks for your reply

I wonder then, how did my 1966 Corvette get delivered directly to little old Medina, NY? Ship docs. say Medina, NY, and no mention of nearby Glen Campbell Chevrolet. They sold at least one in 1967 (to the same man), and at least one in 1968. Several more that I know of went to Heinrich Chevrolet in Lockport (even more near to Glen Campbell, on the same highway).

I was talking about back in thge 1955-56 era not the later era 1960's. I do not knowother than in the mid fifties era Glen Campbell had big sign in front of the dealer ship that said that he was the authorized Chevrolet Corvette dealer in the aerea

You are correct in the 1960's era any CHevrolet dealer could orerd a Corvette . I personally had a 1967 , 1968 etc Corvettes that I purchased and ordered through small town Chevrolet dealer in Ontario and the window sticker had his name on it.
I do know that in the 1960,s early the Corvette with the race car options were allocated to the dealers that had al;ready made a name for themselves racing corvettes. The dealers at least in Ontario Canada were vcategorized as A or B or C dealers based on dealer volume and prestige etc. In my case the small town dealer was a B dealer. As a result my 1967 Corvette that I ordered with all the high performance options and side exhaust etc first at the factory got allocated to the nearby A dealer that raced cars at Sebring and other tracks. I had to wait and did not get the car until another one was allocated to me annd the B dealer. It arrived very late in the 1967 model year despite being ordered well before .

It would be interesting to get an ex GM factory employee to comment on the dealer allocation procedures for fuel injected Corvettes in the 1957 period. For example I was told by ex V.V.Cooke cHevrolet employees (I.e. Louisville KY) that all the 1957 Corvettes in that area first came deklivered to V.V.Cooke Chevrolet and then went to a smaller dealer in the area if one was ordered by a smaller deaerler.
