Thanks Hugh, just called SPORT chevrolet, couldn't get thru to anyone, but left a voice mail. Already called the historical society in Silver Spring and they could only provide me with an address for Loving Chevrolet, nothing more. I'm not giving up! Thanks for your response..
Sometimes the sales guys are not real cooperative or have not been in a sales position for very long. Sometimes it's best to talk with someone in fleet or commercial sales with long term service. Good luck.
Gina,
I have seen dealers with sequential numbers....one of the mysteries of this "system" that GM used. So, you could be correct with your guess. To be sure you need to find a document that shows Loving Chevrolet and the 324 number. Maybe a Camaro or Chevelle document?
Hi Ralph,
I am not sure if I ever answered you. Coastal Chevrolet was not in existence back in 1969. I traced my car back to the first title and it was titled in Washington DC to the first owner. Supposedly the dealership begins with L according to NCRS database search. Zone 14, dealer code 324. Loving Chevrolet comes up as zone 14, dealer 323, and zone 14, dealer 325. Wouldn't it make sense that they could also have been dealer code 324. I paid a fortune to try to have my build sheet restored by graphic conservation and that was unsuccessful as well. Loving Chevrolet was in Silver Spring, MD and only 7 miles away from Washington DC. Anything at this point is just a guess. Thanks, Gina

Gina,
I had a 1971 car from Matt Slap Chevrolet in Philadelphia. During the initial research (around 2005) which was before the NCRS had this microfilm it was discovered that this dealer had two dealer numbers and if I recall correctly they were two numbers apart as well. Once the NCRS began to provide these dealer names it was determined that the higher number was in fact the number the microfilm had listed. As Others have said for some reason dealer numbers changed. I think you may have found your dealer in Loving Chevrolet. Now to find paperwork and/Or memorabilia from Loving. Maybe a POP from a Chevelle or Camaro with a dealer stamp on it. That stamp may give you a Zone and dealer number. Good luck.
Been searching the Chevelle and Camaro data bases as well without success. I do believe my car came from Loving, but GM archives couldn't help either. Loving Chevrolet out of business for a long time. I'm still searching but so far, nothing. Thanks for your reply! Gina
Mark,
I sent below to Gina already and advised her to get with Bob or Marilyn so that she could get an updated shipping data report listing Loving Chevrolet.
