Im sure many of you are searching for original documents for your Corvette like I am. I own 1968 Convertible serial number 194678S422152. Through many online searches, I have found that in 2008, the original dealership sales receipt for my car sold on ebay. Unfortunately, ebay only archives their sales records for 90 days, and then they are removed. So, I know that the sales document exists, but at a dead end on finding it. In an effort to find that document, I put an ad on ebay listing that i wanted to buy that document, in the hopes that someone would do a search for the serial number and see that I am the current owner and contact me.
Much to my surprise, I was contacted by a guy that said that from seeing my ebay ad, he searched my serial number in his personal data base, and that he had in 2006 owned my original warranty book / protecto plate. We continued the conversation, and he dug through some old photo files and actually found pictures that he had of my protecto plate that he had purchased on ebay in 2006. He said that he had no connection to the car, but knew from the POP data that it was an interesting car. He purchased it from a seller that had no idea it was for a Corvette, and then he resold it on ebay. I was skeptical, until he sent me the pictures. I was amazed to find that the warranty book was stamped with the original dealership stamp and was matching to my tank sticker dealer code, the engine date code and transmission date codes were correct and exactly numbers matching to my car.
Which leads me here. I know that both the original warranty book Protecto Plate and the original dealership sales invoice from Vincent Chevrolet exist, but whose desk drawer they are sitting in is still a mystery. Im posting this in the hope that someone here has either of these documents, or can point me to someone that they know collects 1968 original docs.
The dealership is Vincent Chevrolet, code 44/520, Ypsilanti Michigan
This is an actual photo of the one I am looking for, I have blanked out the pertinent information so that if I find it, I can match it up to validate originality. Any help, assistance, or leads are greatly appreciated. If this is the wrong forum for this, please let me know, or move to the right area.
Thank you,
