Any info would help...
We do not have the dealer name. It begins with C and was in California. Apparently it was not in business by 1967.
Nothing found in the dealer data base.
well, Pontiac dealer code search sez zone 20 is OK possibility; in fact 20-126 is Cushing, OK dealer and 20-143 OKC dealer - many Chebby/GM dealers also sold Pontiac back in the day
Interesting...the NCRS shipping data dealer report said:
" The dealer code is zone 20-139. The build date is 7/22/1963.

Is it possible they could be that wrong I wonder?
Thanks for the reply!
Hey Ty - the information I posted may NOT be entirely correct, and your letter you received may be more relevant. I just found the following on another GOOGLE is my friend search this afternoon with the following caveat. I would curious if this matches what the NCRS has on file.
The following are a list of zone numbers attached to the corresponding zone name which should be accurate for most late 60s - early 70s applications. If you don't have any idea where the car was sold originally, but DO have the zone and dealer numbers, then this should help you narrow the search somewhat. Keep in mind that some zones covered a very large geographical area while others were quite small.

Ty - if you check the following link you will find where I got the OK information - again, not sure how accurate it is, as it is similar to our NCRS database and is updated by individuals like us when we find zone office informaiton
Crazy idea... 'beer' with me for a moment. Looking at some old zone maps, we find the following:
And a blowup of the left coast (with a note in the article that Zone 34 - San Diego Zone was CLOSED):
There's an entry in the NCRS Dealer Code Database for Zone 34 - Dealer 139 = Jack Coyle
The location is listed as San Bernardino... which is just outside of Los Angeles:
When zones closed and reorganized, could there be a possibility that Jack Coyle is the dealership you are looking for?
As I said... just a crazy idea, from an idiot that really doesn't know much.
Not crazy at all. As a matter of fact I believe you nailed it!
The dealer zone CORMIER CHEVROLET in Long Beach as 20-127 and CROSSROADS CHEVROLET IN North Hollywood as 20-140.
So COYLE is alphabetically between those names.
Hugh - It all might depend on when the Zones reorganized (prior to the 1982 map)... as well as when the Zone 20 info was derived for the Shipping Report. And when there was a change in Zones, did the Dealership number also change... perhaps some did, while others could have remained the same. My Magic 8-Ball says, "Can not predict now... Come back later".
I will bow out on the discussion, as I might be overthinking this. My point was whether it was zone 20 or 34 it still seems to come up with the dealer possibly being COYLE, using the alphabetical protocol.
If Ty is just looking for the correct dealer, Coyle is a logical start per Jack's recommendation. 34-138 was COURTESY CHEVROLET in San Diego
at some point in time,
Good luck Ty in your search
Hugh- I meant no disrespect to YOU with my reply... I'm simply second guessing, and making fun of MYSELF (part of my insanity defense).
Alphabetically, you raise many good points with dealership names. Perhaps Ty can contact Bob Demmel for some further clarification.
