Jon, it is now my understanding that your shipping report should have stated zone 79 dealer 001. This code was used for GM Overseas Distribution which often was the code GM used when a car was sold through the Military PX. Most of these cars were actually delivered by a dealer in the states but NCRS has no records for that.
Have in my database many listings for zone 79 dealer 001 as GM Overseas Distributor. However, I do have 1 listing with same zone and code showing: Mohenk Chevrolet, 24 Patterson Plank Rd, East Rutherford NJ. Listing came from NCRS database where people make the entries.
I just received the report for 1971 LT1 coupe - 1S111130 - Zone 79 - Dealer 1 - GM Overseas distribution.
I have all of the ordering paperwork for the car, it was ordered by a Navy enlisted stationed in ITALY and delivered upon return stateside.
Are there any documents which may be available?
I believe the car was delivered through Salinas Motors in Syracuse NY.
