Dealer Info Search Ed Connell Chevrolet Wheeling WV

I am new, and easily confused. With that being said, I requested a D.I.S. and received the results almost immediately.
Now the confusing part.
The information I received on my car (1966 roadster) was:

dealer code is zone 13-185. The build date is 3/29/1966.
Ed Connell Chevrolet
Wheeling, WV

I further researched the dealer, Ed Connell Chevrolet, and can only find that dealer in Costa Mesa, Ca.
I was told by the previous owner the car was sold in California.
Is it reasonable to think the dealer possibly moved from West Virginia to California?

How should I proceed to find more information on my car?

Don't confuse a dealer that exists today, with one that existed over 50 years ago. My suggestion is you contact the Historical Society in Wheeling WV to determine if and where Ed Connell Chevrolet was in Wheeling. It is possible that the dealership in Wheeling ceased operations years ago and the dealership with the same name in California is coincidental. Now, having said that, we may have made a mistake and we will check.

The information provided is correct. Another database of dealers dated about 1978 does not show this dealer so we can assume it was gone by then. You may be able to get some info from the WV Motor Vehicle Dept as it is likely the car was first registered in WV.

Your SDR was mailed to you on May 10th. Check your spam folder as you were sent a notification that the SDR was mailed. Give it at least 10 business days to arrive as the postal service is operating with 25% fewer staff due to reorganization.
