In NYS cars prior to 1973 do not have titles; they are registration only with transferable ownership. Not sure of this information helps any.

Mark, have you used one of these services before? I have looked at a few and tried a few, but they are always needing a VIN with more numbers and letters than what our old cars VIN have. I am curious which one of these services did you find that will also provide the current owner? I did not find that in my review of the list. Thanks.

I've used one if these services a few years ago (I would need to look up which one) but it was for a 2013 model.

A friend of mine had a car similar to the one you described, the vin # would not happen to be in the s102100 range?

Well if I ever sell my 67 coupe and a dealer wants it. I or my sons will hold onto the 2" thick binder I have of letters receipts and other tidbits that I have from all the way back to the original owner. It can be given to the new owner should they search for it at a later date.

Bill, I kind of agree with you, but with the privacy laws we have now the new owner may never find you or your sons. That in itself is a sad thing to own a beautiful and rare car and have little or no documentation. I know first hand. I have always assembled a binder for my cars and have provided it to the new owner so that the legacy could continue. In some cases I had original NCRS Top Flight certificates, BG certificates and Triple Crown trophies and they all went with the cars. I did take pictures of all of them and made photo copies in case they ever get lost along the way and a new owner tracks me down. I know that not all dealers deliberately hold documentation, but I do know some private owners who feel that these records belong to them and not the car or the new owner. To each his own.

Morning Gary...In regards to my post #21, talking to my friend last night he said he owned 2 '67 over the years and could not remember the vin # of the blue car exactly so the vin I quoted may be his other '67, that leaves the possibility that his blue car may have vin # around S111800 if that is of any help.

Richard, thanks for checking. My VIN is 18xxx, so a fairly late production car and clearly not in the 11000 to 12000 range. Thanks again for trying to help.

I have some new news on my previous owner search. I did a NMVTIS search and learned the following: The earliest title information begins in 2020.
Ohio 09/07/2000
New Jersey 10/18/2000
New Jersey 03/05/2013
Ohio 11/04/2021
The information leads me to believe that the first title holder was a dealer due to the six week turn around from September,7 to October 18, 2000 and registered in New Jersey. That owner had it from October 18, 2000 to sometime in early March of 2013 when the next owner took possession of it up until my purchase of it in Ohio in November. So with this information, anyone recall this car in NJ from 2000 to 2021? That's 21 years, so I hope this information helps.
