Re: '66 427 from Queen City Chevrolet, Cincinnati to Lawton, Oklahoma

    Hello Everybody,

I recently had a good phone conversation with Cliff Browning Jr. about my 1966 Corvette described in this thread. He remembered that his father, U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel Clifton J. Browning purchased this car 1973-1974 for him from a fellow army officer there at Fort Sill, Lawton, Oklahoma while his father was assigned to the "Readiness Group." Cliff Jr. was 19 years old at the time and was working as a civilian in the Oklahoma oil fields. He doesn't recall the name of the prior owner army officer.

So the new clue and hopeful lead is the unit that his father was assigned to at that time. I don't know if this prior army officer owner was also assigned to the "Readiness Group" there at Fort Sill. Cliff Jr. strongly feels that this prior owner may have been the original owner of my '66 who was the one who brought it to Oklahoma from Ohio?

Please read post #15 just before this post. That will give you all other pertinent information about my search so far. Any help with my prior owner research would be very much appreciated,
    Mike

Just had another great conversation last night with Cliff Browning Jr. trying to test his memory of the "Missing Link" owner who sold his father my 1966 Corvette. I have to add this small bit of assumed info on my part. This Army officer at Fort Sill who brought the Corvette into Oklahoma may not have been an officer but could've been an enlisted man as well.

Anybody out there remember this car roaming the streets of Lawton, Oklahoma during the late '60s through the early '70s? ANY lead would be very much appreciated!

      Thank you,
      Mike Browning
