A recent Sales Data Report shows my '66 L72 Coupe originally deld to a GM Livonia, MI location. I believe this was the Livonia transmission plant. Does anyone have any further info on this plant and know what this car might have been ordered for? Thanks

Re: Dealer code 00-566 - GM Livonia location.
Paul,
You are correct with your description. This was a Chevrolet operation at 13000 Eckles in Livonia, Mi.
Your car order was most likely placed for the plant manager or other senior employee for daily use (PEP vehicle). The employee had the option to purchase the vehicle at the end of use, usually 3 months to one year. If not purchased by the employee, the vehicle was sent to auction or internal employee sales.
Most Plant managers would normally order with a/c and convenience options. Looks like this guy wanted to get to work fast and leave faster.
This plant was not used for advertising or special equipment installation.
There is a slim chance that a special transmission might have been installed, but those type of modifications would normally be done at the tech center or Milford.
If build sheets/tank stickers would have been generated in 1966 it could have been called out as to who the actual employee was.
The building and entire property has been leveled, but online photos can be found showing the brown Chevrolet building at 13000 Eckles.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the additional info Hugh. Yeah, I don't think this guy was too worried about comfort & convenience when he ordered this no a/c; no radio; manual steering; side exhaust L72 car- Top
