Searching for Original Dealer of 194377S122380

Hello all-

Apologies if this post is not appropriate for this forum. Please let me know and I will place it elsewhere.

I am helping a friend attempt to locate a 1967 Stingray 427 that belonged to his father. It was purchased new by his father in 1967 and was sold in the late1980s.

VIN 67-22380

We know if was registered in Minnesota at the time of the sale but have no history after that.

We have been struggling to do any kind of a look-up given the VIN is so old, so I joined NCRS in the hope this hive-mind can help.

Would love to know if this car (or pieces of it) still breathes life and is being enjoyed by someone in the world today.

Is this an impossible task?

It is not on the C-2 Registry. Just checked.

Thank you for looking. May I ask about this VIN …. Why does it seem to be one number short? Or is it correct?

Barbara, you are missing the 1 that comes after the S. The Vin should be 194377S122380. Good luck on your search!

A car dealer with access to a national database could be helpful. If the car is registered in any of the states, it will show up.

According to the NMTVIS report it is 1E9A089B-C9CE-42D8-ABD6-3CDDCC57A738.jpg8042EF38-20EA-4DB4-AE8E-250B4C43434E.jpgcurrently titled in Wisconsin. Sorry for the sideway images, I wasn't able to attach the PDF so I took picture with my phone.

YOU are from heaven! NOW....how do I find it? I'll call the DMV but am suspecting I'll hit a wall due to (legitimate) privacy issues

In the report there is a link on how to request a report from the Wisconsin DMV. They probably won't give any owner names but it's worth a try!
BTW the reports cost $4.95 please pay it forward.

I plugged my 1967 VIN in the NMTVIS history search and it came back "not Found". This seems strange to me since I currently own the car and its registered in Florida. Shouldn't it come up with at a minimum my info? Thank you for any help you can provide.

It may depend on how long you have owned the '67. If there hasn't been a title transfer or it hasn't been totaled or Florida may not be providing their information, since the NMTVIS service was instituted in about 1992, they may not have any records on your car. There is lot of information on their site.

I've owned my 67 for 25 years with no title transfer since I bought it. So maybe as you say the NMTVIS doesn't have my records. As many of us know this can be very frustrating to locate previous owners. I do have the selling dealer info but thats about all. Thank you for your help.
