Rummaging thru the pile of old papers the PO gave me when I purchased my 1969 L71 and I came across some DMV stuff from Virginia and Maryland. Apparently the PO had done some research on who had owned the car with the DMV based on the VIN.
I found a single page of notebook paper with some names listed.
The original owner was a Bill Hodnick in Martinville VA (or Morrisville VA? Difficult to decipher the writing)
I believe he owned B&D Motor sales in Bassett VA but can’t be certain of that.
There was no phone number listed for Bill Hodnick.
There was another name listed as the second owner and it had a phone number next to it. On a whim, I dialed it and an older lady answered. I was looking to speak to David Hundley and she asked what this was in regards to so I went thru my story of me looking for any history on an older Corvette I had recently purchased.
She replied that “I have no idea if he ever owned a corvette but her he is, you can ask him”.
So began my conversation with the second owner of my car.
It was an amazing conversation that I recorded so I could go back and review it.
Without me saying anything, he described the car to a “T”. “Black on black 427 with 3 deuces and factory sidepipes”
”It ran like a scalded dog!”
The highlights were that the car was purchased new from W&B Chevrolet dealership in Bassett VA but that dealership has been long gone for about 25 years.
Im curious if anyone has ever heard of this dealership? A google search turns up nothing.
The other tidbit that surprised me was that he said the car was a factory Sidepipe car.
It was a low mileage car.
He said the original owner would have to be very old and he’s possibly passed away.
After talking to him, I went thru the pictures that I received from the fellow I bought the car from and I’m going to post them up
