I've posted a thread with the muscle car boys over at Yenkodotnet. Hopefully they can help with your search. Those guys are REALLY good too! I'll let you know if I hear anything from them.

Try contacting the local historical society or search old newspapers from the time period in question. I have had luck with them researching old newspaper ads to find a dealer name.
Here's what the Supercar/Yenko guys have come up with from their personal files. Sorry, so far nothing on Dealer 395 in Zone 49.
-One fellow first said that the dealer name likely begins with letters M through R. I'd mentioned nothing from your NCRS posts other than the title.
-Another one who's known to have a large database replied that he has files on Dealer 391 & 396 respectively:
-Morrison Chevrolet Inc
-Moyer Chevrolet Inc
I'll try to find out where those two dealerships are located from him. Maybe they're near Harrisburg. I ran them through the NCRS Database search engine but got no results.
I'll post any other info I find from them here about Dealer 395.
Here's a fresh post over at the Supercar/Yenko site.
-One fellow says "NCRS has Stocker as 49-576 which makes sense starting w/S. Is this correct also anything known for McClellan or Rupert?"
-The man with the extensive database replied "Rupert is 696 but the dealer we are looking for most likely is between MOR-MOY."
I really like their approach with this research. And very generous on their behalf. I'll keep you updated with any new posts that may help you.
Here's an idea that would require some digging but may just net some results. If this were my car I would certainly try this angle:
Find time period phone book white page listings that include business phone numbers. Your search window is merely MOR thru MOY. This search would require locating listings for the major cities included in the overall search area. I'd start with Harrisburg. Try Bob Demmel's suggestion of contacting their historical society. I've contacted various society offices doing my own research on my car. They've always been pleasant to work with. The local main library should have old phone books on microfiche.

Just a suggestion,

Today, I'm going to an Easter Sunday function with the folks that asked me to help them out on their dealership search. I'm going to pass on the information I have learned so far.
Good suggestions about searching old phone books and contacting local historical societies.
Zone 11 is huge, its area encompassing about 1/3 of the State of Pennsylvania from NY to MD in a N/S direction and the Appalachian Mountains to the Delaware River in an E/W direction.

Chuck,
The problem is the dealer database has some sections that are missing the data from 1966-1967 era. In this case we have the 1972 data and the 1978 data neither of which show anything. Likely the dealer went out of business or was gobbled up by another dealer before 1972. So, I think the Secretary of State would have info on businesses with the letter M that went belly up before 1972 but after 1963.
I'm hoping that the Zone and Dealership numbers entered privately by individuals on other club websites might shed some light.
I know that Camaro guys, Chevelle guys, and others are also interested in Zone/Dealership numbers. Just maybe one of those "sources" might have it listed.

There were a couple of very helpful posts there on the Supercar/Yenko site. An excellent exchange between the two main contributors to the thread.
One gentleman wrote that the dealership name may have started with the letters MOR-MOY. He gave an example that the dealership could have been either titled as "Morrison Chevrolet" or possibly as "Robert Morrison Chevrolet" Or even shown as "Morrison Motors."
The other leading contributor then shared this 1963 advertisement as a strong possibility as the subject dealership being searched. I found both neighboring towns of Schuylkill Haven and Orwigsburg just north of I78 equally spaced between Harrisburg and Allentown.
I see in post #7 and #8 that you are already aware of E. W. Moyer Chevrolet. But wouldn't it be excellent if your friend's '63 came from this dealer shown in this ad?
