Dealer info want -Good Chevrolet, Alameda, California

Well, I just learned today that the above-referenced Chevrolet dealership has closed its doors and gone out of business permanently. Good Chevrolet was an iconic dealership here in the San Francisco bay area for over 60 years. It was always known as a "performance-oriented" dealership and always had lots of Corvettes, Camaros, and SS Chevelle cars for sale. Here in the east bay, it was right up there with Cochran & Celli in Oakland, Central Chevrolet in Fremont, and Courtesy Chevrolet in San Jose as THE place to buy a high performance Chevrolet. I was in Alameda a few months ago and they had a long row of new Corvettes out front. Now, they're gone.

So, if your Corvette was originally delivered at Good Chevrolet in Alameda, California, it's now an "orphan".

Tim from Boardwalk Chevrolet said four dealers closed in the bay area in the last couple months. Boardwalk is in Redwood City CA.

I'm not familiar with a Broadway Chevrolet around here. However, there is a Chevrolet dealer in Oakland called Bay Bridge Motors and they are loacated on Broadway. They are, more-or-less, the successor to Cochran & Celli although they're in a different location and with a different name. They essentially have the old Cochran & Celli franchise.

I think a lot of dealerships all over the country will be closing in the next several months.

The problem is a huge inventory of unsold vehicles- probably well over 4 million at this point and growing every day - and banks that don't want to extend floorplan credit.

Maybe the retail auto business will figure out that the ancient and obsolete business model of maintaining huge inventories with high pressure saleman "to get you to buy today" isn't the hot ticket for the 21st century, but I doubt it!

I just received the dealer information about my 65 L78 Road Racer (#'s matching) and it turns out to be "Good Chevrolet" in California.

I have traced the provenance back to the 70's and have a lead on the the original owner...

Would anyone have photos of this dealership or a newspaper clipping / ad from this dealership ?

          Thanks in advance,
          Mike

Very sad, I have Corvettes delivered at Ernie Porter Chevrolet in Pasadena, and Guaranty Chevrolet in San Diego, all performance types and dead and gone too.
