Re: 62-72 Corvette delivery data
This has been asked/answered before. The answer is NO...
The shipping report supplies the car's build date (when it hit the 'pay point' at the factory), the ordering dealer name, zone, number and dealer address.
(1) That may NOT correspond to the selling dealer as inter-dealer transaction(s) after FOB origin delivery are unknown.
(2) The shipping report 'date' may differ somewhat from what a 'birthday' calculator spits out. Why? some cars experienced 'heavy repair' delay(s) before exiting the factory...
Roy's talk was quite informative!- Top

Re: 62-72 Corvette delivery data
The birthday book is a calculation based on Chevrolet reported end of month production figures. Anything between the end of the month and the first of the month is calculated mathematically -- thus it can be off for a wide variety of reasons. According to Roy Sinor five of the six end of month numbers they checked against the available data are accurate. In between it is a free for all.
As I said before. I am the original owner of an early C3. Unless it was dealer traded, which I strongly doubt given my conversations with the owner of the dealership when he was trying to talk me into buying the car, I know where it came from and just about when it was produced. C3s, with no A O Smith bodies are relatively easy to figure the dates. They were pushing them out like &*() through a tin horn -- except for strikes. I will send for the information when the rush dies down.
At 7 AM mountain time this morning Roy had 100 requests.
At 10 AM it was about 250, and he had to shut off his cell phone and take steps to prevent overloading his server. Neither of the individuals who will respond to the requests will be in their offices until Monday. Both are here at the Western Regional.Terry- Top

I also will order the "data" when the ordering cools down a bit. Maybe
NCRS can keep us informed when the ordering dies a bit so we can get
our order in.

After reading this recent thread - https://www.forums.ncrs.org/showthre...80847&uid=6387
-it appears to me that the info. received may not actually show the real dealership that originally sold the car. Correct?

Re: 62-72 Corvette delivery data
In thinking about getting this delivery info vs. the document verification service, I assume once you know what dealer (name, number, and zone code) and date your car was shipped, you could ID the docs like the tank sticker, window sticker, etc. I think that is all they will do for that service, or will they carefully peruse and scope out the docs (like the crack experts they are at trim tags, VIN plates, engine pad stamps, etc.). Just wondering what they are doing for that fee.

Re: 62-72 Corvette delivery data
I ordered mine on Friday. I've spent countless hours and a lot more than $40 over the past two years searching out past owners and compiling the history of my 67 Coupe. Turns out I'm the 7th owner and I've found everyone but the first and third owners. Hoping that this info will point me toward the originating dealer. Even if it doesn't, it will provide the delivery info which is one more piece of the puzzle. Maybe I get a little closer to finding that original owner. I don't intend to stop until I know for certain that there are no more paths to follow. Anyway, if $40 covers the costs of obtaining and distributing this info and puts a couple of bucks in the treasury, fine with me. JMHO. Love the history...the second owner was a cop in the Minneapolis area that got into a "disagreement" in a bar after hours which led to the car losing it's windshield...explains the later date on the glass...- Top

Re: 62-72 Corvette delivery data
Just wondering if anyone that has a 62-72 vette that has found the original dealer and if they were still around, did the dealer have any records for there car?
My 79 was a canadian car so I got all the records from GM of canada, the original dealer was three rivers chevrolet in Montreal. They are still there and I contacted them and they said they'd like to help me but all those paper records are long gone. I was hoping to find the original owner, the GM paper work only gives you the dealer it was delivered too.Last edited by Mike R.; October 3, 2010, 11:12 PM.- Top

Re: 62-72 Corvette delivery data
I was very excited when I first read that this information would be available to me for my brother's '62. Now I see that it actually will not be due to the serial number being 2550. ("certain information contained in 1962 after number 6000")
Am I correct in how I have interpreted this statement? Nothing is available prior to serial number 6000 in the 1962 model year?
How disappointing. I was looking forward to finding another piece of the history of this car.4petesak- Top
