Looking for information on your car's dealer?

I've seen a number of posts requesting information on dealerships in the last few days. I know the thrill myself and thought I would offer up a tip that might provide a quicker path than a random inquiry posted on this discussion board.

Google your dealership's city and drill down until you find a link or site for that city's Chamber of Commerce. There will be an email address or phone number posted therein that you can use to contact someone who can tell you if your dealership is still in business. If not, they might be able to tell you when the dealership closed and who owned the place during the time frame of your car's delivery.

Another thing you can do is run an ad in the local paper in that city requesting information on the car. Who knows, your original owner might just pop out the workwork and make your day!

Good luck with your quest for info!

Tracy, good suggestions, did the add thing multiple time in different cities, no results.

Chamber of commerce a good idea, also try (tried) historical organizations from those towns.

You have to be real dilligent, we generally are on limited time with the people buying these cars now in their late 70's, 80's or long gone.

It does not hurt to network here but reality is that less than a third of NCRS memebers are using the forums.

You never know what kind of break or lead you get, you have to blast it out and a "lost & found" or looking for forum is a good idea in that is an ther avenue.

      Tracy,

You are so right as I was lucky with an ad. I placed an ad in the personel section of the LA times back in 1992. A editor for the times contacted me and help me find the original owner of my 67 435 car and he did an article on it as well which end up on the front page of the Sunday edition. So you just never know until you try.........
