It is fascinating to read about the information that is now reaching our membership about the original dealers. This historical aspect is much more interesting to me compared to discussions of screw slot orientation on a hidden bracket. Please forgive the hyperbole, but the search for more dealer and early owner history really brings these cars alive. They have not always been static show pieces being examined for slight flaws. They were once an exciting purchase by new owners who probably couldn't sleep the night before delivery. For me one of the real delights in the hobby is to talk with original owners and to hear of their reasons for various option choices. Hearing about some hairy beast being ordered from a small town Chevrolet dealer who probably sold two Corvettes all year is wonderful. Please keep those request coming.

Re: Keep those dealer information requests coming
Hi all, got my delivery info today, my 1964 came from Malcolm Konner Chevrolet in Paramus, NJ. Code 184, zone 35. This is a long time huge volumne dealer in NJ. Car spent most of it's life in NJ until I brought it to San Diego in 2004. At one time in NJ it was yellow, light metalic blue but was originally red. Had NJ plates 'ALANS 64' in the 80s. Was in Landing, Hackettstown, and Bloomfield. Any memories of a 64 Coupe like this are super appreciated here! Thanks Roy, one more detail in its history!

Re: Keep those dealer information requests coming
I got the report on my 72 convertible.
Sam Leman Chevrolet
Roanoke Il.
Still in business. This was interesting from their website.
Sam Leman began his career as an automobile dealer in April 1963. Starting with eight employees, he transformed a Roanoke, Illinois, service station into a thriving Chevrolet dealership. At this location, he became downstate Illinois' largest Corvette dealer, selling some 100 Corvettes in 1969.
Sam was actively involved in the business until February 3, 1994, when he died in an automobile accident. The businesses are now owned and operated by Ben and Tim Leman, and their families.- Top

Re: Keep those dealer information requests coming
I agree it is interesting but for me it has been disappointing. I received both my reports today and both were incomplete. All I got was zone 20, believed to be CA, for my 65 and dealer 1, zone 79, believed to be export, for my 70.- Top

You lucky bastards (English accent applied),
My 60 was far to soon off the assembly line! I keep hoping!!!
With an English accent you can get away with so much more and sound like your IQ is 10% higher!

Re: Keep those dealer information requests coming
The report for my 67 427/390 marina blue roadster showed up today.
I had a tank sticker for the car which showed zone 29 dealer 88. I put a lot of effort in trying to locate the dealer name. I just new it was likely in Iowa or Nebraska and likely began with a B
Was nice to see that the shipping report showed same zone and dealer (so I guess I can now be confident that the tank sticker is legit).
My delivery dealer was apparently Phil Boardman Chevrolet, Oakland Nebraska (small town about 60 miles North of Omaha)
Needeless to say, this dealer is no longer in business. I can't find anything at all on the internet about Boardman Chevrolet - if it rings a bell for anyone - please drop me a line.- Top

Re: Keep those dealer information requests coming
Hi- I don't have dealer codes for this car, but here is the history: The original owner-Roger XXXXXX,El Reno,Okla; ordered the car in Sept. 61,from Johnson-Kindblade Chevrolet,100 N Canadian,Purcell,Okla, and took delivery(actually, his Mother took delivery since he was away at school)on 10-23-61. Roger was a student at Okla. State Univ. in Stillwater, Okla. He traded in his 57 chevy Belair 2 dr. hdtp. on the Corvette. His family had a sizeable farming and harvesting business, and once his help was required on a harvesting job in the western part of the state,so they loaded the Corvette into a grain truck, and took it to the jobsite! That way,Roger could help with the harvest, and had the Corvette to drive back to Stillwater to attend class! He ordered the car with Fuel Injection, and I asked him why he ordered that motor, and he told me it was from reading car magazines, and oddly enough,he relayed to me that he had experience with mechanical fuel injection with some of their tractors and harvesting equiptment, and was impressed with the performance and reliability! I thought it would be interesting,so I asked Roger if he had any warranty issues or problems, since he owned the car through it's warranty period. He told me that the only problems he had with the car in the time he owned it were:Broken FI drive cable, Radio, Radiator-All problems were repaired under warranty.Roger traded this car into R T Chevrolet 1011 W Main,Yukon,Okla. on 3-10-64, for a 365hp cpe. He gave me old photos of the 62 and the 64,as well as his 57 chev,
Second owner: Gene XXXXXX,Elk City,Okla.-Was in the Air Force-saw 62 at R T Chev, and bought it on 3-20-64. Gene owned car from-3-20-64 till 7-27-97,when he sold it to meLast edited by E S.; March 9, 2020, 09:02 PM.- Top

Re: Keep those dealer information requests coming
EJ,
Neat story. After seeing this thread I realized it has been almost ten years since NCRS started this service. We have supplied many SDR's and there are many, many stories about how it helped present owners find some history on their cars. I remember the service went live during the Albuquerque Regional. Roy's cell phone, which included his email, was buzzing out of his pocket! What a ride!
Bill, very meaningful comments to start this thread.- Top
