Recieved my two requests on Saturday.

#1 1963 #20667 Convertible 7/27/1963 Bud Kouts Chevrolet in Lansing Michigan (They are still there!)

#2 1963 #12521 SW 4/9/1963. Smith Chevrolet Houston TX. (not there anymore)


My question is on #1. 07/27/1963 is a Saturday. Did they build Corvette's on Saturdays?

And if anyone remembers these dealers back in the day I would appreciate any anecdotes Thanks Eric

Found out Bud Kouts is owned by a family that has a relationship with the dealership back to the 50's. I have sent a couple of emails to them, but so far no response. Found out Kouts sponsors a club, "Capital Corvette Club" that has been around since 1958 in the Lansing area.

Anyone a member of that club?

The dealership moved in 196/65 anyone know the address of the original site?

Did a little search in the Michigan records and found this. Looks like the address listed is their current one in use. Let me keep digging.

Records show the 2801 address as far back as 1973. I found an original document listing the business at 2121 Blackmore St in Saginaw from 1954.

Tom, thank you.. Saginaw is quite a bit away from lansing. so:

1. 2121 Blackmore St Saginaw MI 1954 to ?
2 2801 E. Michigan Ave Lansing 1965 to present

I found that the E Michigan address used to be a church prior to the dealership moving there.

I would assume the dealership was in lansing by 8/63 otherwise the shipping report would say Saginaw.

"Hi my name is Dick Iding. I am President of Bud Kouts Chevrolet in Lansing. We are a family owned Chevrolet store owned by myself, and my two brothers Jim and Pat Iding. Our dad, Joseph W. Iding worked for Bud Kouts himself from 1954 until 1977, when he bought Mr. Kouts out of the business. Both myself, and my two brothers started in the business just part time while going to school. All three of us have made a career of the automotive selling business. So dad worked there since day one.
