New York DMV Title Search

Did anyone have any luck getting useful data out of a New York DMV title search? It only costs $10, and apparently you can get the names of prior owners if you certify that you need the information for research purposes. But I can't find any indication of whether or not the data go back to late 1964, when my '65 was delivered by a New York dealer. I already know that the car was titled in Indiana by 1994. Thanks!

NY records stop very short of 64.

I was told by DMV that records were destroyed after 5 years when i tried a search last year...

Hi Rich is right to a point, NYS keeps the last three owners if the car has be registered there continously, if the car has not be for five years, its gone. Phil 8063

No, mine is Booth Chevrolet in Babylon, NY. I believe it is now called Arnold Chevrolet.

Thanks for the replies. It clearly does not seem worth $10 to request a title search from the NY DMV.
