Yesterday I had a great 20 minute conversation with the original owner of my 63 Z06 coupe. I had spent the last 2 years working backwards trying to find an owner from the late 60's. I thought for sure I was out of luck.
Along came the NCRS and my shipping data report. After finding out which dealer my car was delivered to, I sent a message out to my local chapter members to see if anyone knew a person who worked there at the time. Some of those members sent Emails to their local Corvette club members for me also. A member of a near by club stepped up and said "Not only did I work at the dealership back then, but I remember working on that car." He led me to a local lighting company who's owner bought the car new from the dealership.
When I contacted the President of the lighting company he informed me that his dad bought the company in the 70's but the prior owner who would have purchased the car new was living in Rhode Island. So another blast mail to our membership with the Original owners name and in a few hours I have a return Email and a phone number. The original owner was very happy to hear from me as was I to be able to speak with him.
Without the Delivery data report I am sure I would never have found this guy. This was the only Corvette he ever bought. So a big THANK YOU goes out to all the NCRS members who were involved with getting this info to our membership.
