I just picked up a two volume set of books at a vintage book store.
Titled " 1959 Directory of Automobile Dealers"
It has all the Chevrolet Dealers and their addresses for '59.
Catigorized by State then City , alphibatized.

Any one ever seen these ?

I may be starting something here that could make you a very busy person but would you mind looking up Barry Chevrolet Sales, Aledo, Illinois for me? I know they were around in 63 to 69 and I have an old phone number and a very poor copy of an ad but no address.

If that book shows the Dealer Code and Zone numbers, it could be worth a fortune!

I paid NCRS $40 for the Dealer Code and Zone numbers and at this point would gladly pay another $40 for the dealer and address that matches those numbers!

For 1959 the only Chevrolet Dealer listed in the Book is
Davidson Motor Co. W. 7th Street

Thanks Dana. Could be a change in ownership. It is likely there was only one dealer at any given time as Aledo is not all that large. I will follow up on that address. You may have saved me a bunch of legwork.

Could you please tell me the name of the dealers in your book from Pennsylvania starting with the letters "Ka" thru "Kl"? Should not be too many! I should be able to find my dealer from that info.

Still trying to discover who Dealer Code 294 in Zone 49 is!

Working from the list of 25 dealers that Dana provided, I eliminated 3 because they do not meet the "Ka" thru "Kl" criteria set by Al Grenning (thru correspondence with Matt). Of the remaining 22, I eliminated 5 that are positively identified on the NCRS website but not in my Zone - Zone 49. I also eliminated 4 more as not being in my zone even though they are not specifically listed on the NCRS website but are in the same cities as ones that are listed . That narrowed it down to 13 dealers.

Next, I plotted out all of the towns with known zones from the NCRS web site on a map of Pennsylvania. Out of about 100 towns recorded, there were 5 towns recorded that did not match the geographic patterns that I would have expected from the remaining zones. Some of these were later dates with much higher dealer numbers. Anyhow, plotting the remaining 13 dealers towns eliminated an additional 6 dealers as not being in my Zone. Now I am left with 7 dealers. However, there is one dealer listed on NCRS that is not on Dana's list above. If I add that one in, I have the following list of 8 possible dealers:

Keckler in Bellefonte
Keller in Marysville
Kepler in Selinsgrove
Keystone Park in South Waverly
Kindt in Danville
Kleinfeltner in Jonestown
Klick-Lewis in Palmyra (added but known as Dealer Code 294 from NCRS)
Klinger in Sacramento

From this I can eliminate two more since one is not my Dealer Code and the other is after that one alphabetically. Then, can I just count up the list from 294 to 290 and determine that Kepler in Selinsgrove is my Dealer or did I just spend a lot of time spinning my wheels for nothing? There really seem to be too many variables for this to be correct! Such as Klick-Lewis not being on Dana's list, but being on the NCRS list. Klick-Lewis was incorporated in 1955 - so they should have been on the list!

Any more ideas?
