My Shipping Data report lists the Dealer as D&I Motors, Gillette, WY but doesn't list a street address. Is this common on all the reports sent out?
This dealer was Code 198, Zone 10. Just curious.
In 1959 the Gillette , WY
Chevrolet Dealer was
Bennage Chevrolet
Box 870
Gillette , WY
Hope this is a clue for your research

Mark, here's link to Wyoming archives for phone books. Gillette is down the page. No sure how you contact those folks, but it should be on the website somewhere. Just gotta let your fingers do the googling and keep changing the search string around until you get some results. Gary....
I was thinking a little out of the box and am going to contact the Wyoming Archives and see if they will research the Gillette Newspaper and see if there are any ads in the paper right after it was delivered. Who knows, there may be an ad for a Corvette in the dealers advertising. I'll also check the phone book.
Actually all my paperwork and prior research shows the car was sold by Alan Green Chevrolet out of Seattle. May have been a dealer swap situation as it's an L71 and Alan Green was the high performance dealer in Seattle. I'm also going to check the Wyoming DMV and see if they ever show the car titled in Wyoming. So far I have confirmed it was titled in Washington back to 1972 but the car was delivered in August of 68 so I've got 4 years to make up. The original owner is deceased but I think I've tracked down his son. Maybe he can explain the Wyoming connection.
You mean Wyoming isn't the premier source for high performance Vettes???? Say it isn't so!
I did a search on Bennage Chevrolet and found an obituary of a guy who was the service manager in 1956. It was called Bennage Chevrolet Cadillac. It says in the obituary that it later became D & I Motors. Small world. Getting closer.
