My 1965 corvette was delivered new to Dick Barone Chevrolet in Springfield, Pa..
Dealer code 23 in zone 15.
I have learned the name has changed to Rothrock Chevrolet.
Does anyone know this dealer? Do they keep old records? Contacts??
Any help is appreciated. I do not have any documentation on this old car.
Thanks
Dick Gutman 13180
My Grandfather owned a gas station right up the street from the "Farmer Dick Barone" Chevy dealership since the early 50's. If fact, I'd bet that my Grandfather gassed up your '65 more than once.
When I was a teenager working at the gas station, I bought parts from Barone's a few times a week. It's my understanding that it was a family run business at the time. It's now been Rothrock Chevy for the better part of 20 years, maybe longer. Unfortunately, I think you'd be hard pressed to find any records, but it certainly wouldn't hurt to give them a call. Good luck.
Throughout the 60's, my family went to Farmer Dick Barone's every September for the first day that the new cars were in. We bought quite a few Chevys (my father, my uncle, and my grandfather). No Vettes in my family, but I spent alot of time there as a kid. If your car was delivered in September, I probably saw it. Don't remember when it changed hands as I moved away in the 70's.
