    re Export Vette Details

Hi all, recently applied for & recieved the NCRS Shipping Data Report for my '64 NO3 with following info....
Production date 5/25/1964, Dealer Code 2, Zone 21, Dealer as Export which makes sense as I'm downunder in Australia.
the codes above point to 'GM Direct Central Office Dearborn Michigan '.
does this mean i need to go to GM direct for any further info or should i go via the GM Heritage Center ?
GM Heritage is committed to preserving the rich history of General Motors brands while providing a foundation for continued innovation into the future.

anybody else have any luck with these?

    any help greatly appreciated
    regards
    Harry '64 NO3 Coupe downunder

The information supplied to you from NCRS we have as the result of an agreement NCRS has worked out with the GM Heritage center, I am confident that if they had any additional information we would have it and therefore you would have it.

As we identify more of these export vehicles some more information may come to light at this point we have not identified enough to grasp the coding system GM used to distinguish different locations completely.

I say we can’t define anything yet and we can’t but some day we might as more show up. Here is what we have to date, these locations are based on information supplied by owners not GM, GM simply shows each with a zone and dealer number then basically washes their hands of it in the records we have.

      21 002 (3 to Holland) (2 to Australia)

      21 001 (2 to South Africa) (1 to Peru) (1 Military- Spain?) (1 Germany) (1 Military)

      21 013 (1 Military/Germany)

      21-909 (1 Hawaii)

I suspected it had more to do with distribution centers in the sates than country but that falls apart quickly when you show 002 Holland, 001 Germany and then 002 Australia and 001 S. Africa. I would have guessed Holland and Germany would be the same distribution as would Spain, they obviously were not. I would have also guessed Peru, S. Africa and Australia might have been the same they obviously were not. Then Hawaii shows up as 909 OK maybe it left from the west coast and the others the east coast, we could guess all day. At this point it is best for us to stick to what we know 21 001, 21 002, 21 013, 21 909 sometime around 1969 the zone became 79 so 79 001 are all export. At this point we just do not know anymore.

I have a 67 L71 convertible Canada car with a very legible tank sticker. It lists the zone as 21 and the dealer as 000 in the boxes at the top. Interestingly, it identifies the actual dealer in the option list. The number 0682I is partially in the option number column, with the name
"R DESJARDINS AUTO LTD" beside it.

          Pat,

I should have included 21 000 as Canada, we were able to figure that out fairly early in the process because of the number of Canadian members who have records and helped us. Unfortunately even there all GM shows is 21 000, nothing else. Apparently if we had the order copy like you have for each of these exports it might indicate the dealer, although several of them we have seen do not.

I also got a shipping report, Zone 21 dealer 2. My 1963 Corvette was shipped to my country Switzerland.

Ruedi, is your car equipped with what I would call "European Equipment" such as KM speedo or anything else that might have been required in Switzerland? Thanks

Hello Mark. Yes, my 1963 Corvette has a metric speedometer, otherwise it's pure American.

My 1963 Z06 was exported to Switzerland in 1967 by the original owner. Had metric speedometer when I bought the car in 2001 from Canadian owner.

Hello RickNice to hear that your car also was once exported to Switzerland. I read your story about finding the original owner.

                      Re: re Export Vette Details

I am here in England and have some Midyears ,two of which are export cars as per the NCRS shipping data reports, both showing dealer code 1 in zone 21.
I bought both cars in England, the first is a 427/390 convertible that was part of a huge collection being thinned out. I was told by a Spanish dealer who had known the car for many many years that it was the 1966 Barcelona Motor Show car and was shown on the stand of Hermanos Blitz SA , the then GM dealer in Madrid, having already sold the car before the show. The car was in Spain all of it's life until I bought it and still had Spanish plates. The second car is a 427/390 coupe that was bought by an Englishman who was working in Africa and who bought it in1978 and brought back to this country in 1982,me buying it from him in 2002.I have original paperwork showing the car in Ghana and The Gold Coast. Neither of these cars have plates attached or have any holes drilled in fire walls and both have their original drive trains.

Sorry,I should have said The Ivory Coast ,not the Gold Coast in my previous post.
