I got a shipping report for a '67 which states it came from Moore Brothers in Tipton Indiana. More info in this post about Moore Bros HERE. Which includes a photo of the present building.....a pizza shop.
When I spoke to the owner who bought the car in 1968, when he was 19 years old
, from a Doctor in Kokomo, the doc told him the car came from Zintsmaster Chevrolet there in Kokomo in late 66 or early 67. It's a L71 mid-Nov sidepipe 2-top Elkhart/Teal Blue. Moore Bros appears to be in a small town about 20 miles or so south east of Kokomo. PO still living in Kokomo tells me Zintsmaster is gone.
The 19 year old couldn't get a bank loan being so young, so the doc financed him for 4 years until paid off. He got his title in 72. We are looking for the Doctor's son who was the first owner. As the story goes from the owner sinc '68, the doc gave his son money to go to college. Some time later the Doc discovered the kid bought the Corvette instead of school tuition. The Doc found the son, not in college, but driving around in this 67 BB 435 horse Corvette. The Doc impounded the car and put it on the front lawn with a for sale sign on it. The rest is history. After 42+ years of ownership the then 19 year old has now departed with his favorite ride.
My only results searching for Zintsmaster Chevrolet info have been fruitless, except for a few references. The story goes that the Doctor and family moved out of the Kokomo area rather abruptly many years ago. Reasons unkown.
Any leads would be helpful, about the car, the dealers, or the Doctor & his son. I found a Zintsmaster postcard below on the net.
