    Anthony,

A while back I got my 1965 corvette Shipping Data Report back as well and turned out to be a Dealer Code 500 Zone 0. Early 1965 VIN# as well but later than yours. It turn out Chevrolet Engineering, MI as well. I have had a few possible explainations: GM executive demo, GM show car, GM test car, Special event car???? If you find out any more I would love to know as well.

    Matt.

I went back and read shipping report mine does say Dealer code 500 Zone 0 Chevrolet Central Office not Gm Engineering. Car VIN# 4011. Lets just say my car was a GM Executive car when GM was done with the car would it be sold as a used car at a chevy dealer? Would a protecto plate ever be issued in that dealers name for warranty work?

I believe all executive cars, demonstrators, etc. were eventually sold and I would guess the warranty book probably would show the first retail customer and selling dealership. This assumes that at that point and time GM had some type of system to filter these cars back through a dealership and did not use the wholesale auction outlets they use today.
I know by 1974 when a car was ready for this procedure as long as there were no modifications it went through a dealer but if modified it went through a separate organization for disposal and that disposal could be a sale or scrap depending on the extent of the modifications.
