Just got info back from Oregon DMV indicating my '67 Coupe has never been registered in that state. Dealer Code indicated sent to A.B. Smith Chevrolet in Portland. I think it may have been shipped out to another state for it's first sale.
Any thoughts on where to go next?
Or it was sold to a customer who registered it in another state. Perhaps someone in the military or someone who worked for an air line and was only temporarily in the Portland area.
My journey now will take another direction. I am not yet ready to give up. Can always start from last owner, but really wanted to start at first owner and work forward.
I disagree with Oregon's records being less than top notch. I've seen a number of people on this site who have had great success with Oregon DMV. And my own experience was nothing less than top notch: 12 day turnaround on a search of archived records that gave me all the details on my '68 4-4-2. I couldn't have asked for anything more. I'm thinking along the lines that the car was sold to someone in Washington State. And here (I live in Olympia), well, good luck if you find anything!
