Dealership search for 1971 Corvette

I am trying to locate the dealership where my 1971 Corvette was purchased. Can I use the VIN number to locate the dealership? Any other suggestions?

The NCRS is proud to offer these services based on historical data obtained from the General Motors Heritage Center. The first item is "Corvette Month Car Shipped Reports". The information consists of the dealer code, dealer name, dealer location and the date the car was produced. The good news is this should allow you to find the original dealer where your Corvette was sold and possibly open the door to finding more information about your Corvette. This information is available only for 1962 after number 6000 through 1975 (within this group a small amount of information is not available).
From this data we are also able to offer a Document Validation Service. NCRS will compare any of your GM documents to the GM records contained in the Shipping Report and if verification can be achieved, will establish the authenticity of your factory documents.
The third item is from out out historical judging records. Car Award Confirmation Service. This document will provide a complete listing from our NCRS database of the available award statistics for a specific Corvette. NCRS records date back to the mid/late eighties in many cases. The Award Confirmation Document could provide an important link or be the missing piece to a vehicles history.
