Re: understanding shipping report 1966
When I got shipping records for one of my Camaros It was the Dallas Tx zone. I called the local Charlotte zone office and asked questions. I would try that. Or PM one of the long time guys in this organization. Someone probably knows about that office but I don't think a lot of guys check this shipping forum to often.- Top

Re: understanding shipping report 1966
Chevrolet divided (and still does) North America into Zones. These zones (note lower case use) contained states and parts of states. Over time the number of Zones changed. There was usually around 16; but there could be more or less from time to time. The boundaries also changed from time to time. So a dealer could change zones without ever moving. Just to complicate things more, if the dealer sold several GM makes of vehicles (say Buick, Olds & Chevrolet) They would have a different dealer number, and maybe Zone number for each brand. In the case you received, however, that number pertains only to Chevrolet.
Vehicles sent to Zone offices were used by Zone officials and then sent to dealers for sale, or returned to Central Office for disposal at company sales. Your car may have been placed on display at an auto show or it may have been driven by a zone representative to dealer meetings, or it may have been used at a Zone Training center -- in which case mechanics in training would have disassembled and then assembled it. There is no way to tell how it was used or abused.Terry- Top
