Valley Chevrolet Cockeysville, MD Zone 14 Dealer 527

Does anyone know anything about Valley Chevrolet Cockeysville, MD Zone 14 Dealer 527? Does anyone remember a 1965 396 corvette coupe Glen Green on Saddle interior that sold there new???? It was traded in at Lafferty Chevrolet Warminster, PA in 1968 then sold to the 2nd owner. Does anyone remember this big block 65 coupe.

    Hi Matthew,
I bought a new 64 Impala Convertible from Valley.
It was a fairly small dealership. I don't have any paperwork from that car so can't help with any names. The dealership moved to a much larger building in the late 80s (?) still under it's own name. It's still at that location but is now part of the FOX automotive group.
There may be some connection to a NCRS member since the Mason Dixon Chapter has had some Judging Events at that location. The link may be member Rick Aleshire.
    Good Luck!
    Regards,
    Alan

Just remembered... still have the dog-dish hub caps... baby MOONS went on the car.

All that's left of the 64, 327/300, 4-speed! Besides some memories!

      Alan,

Thanks for the response I love the 64 was that Daytona Blue?? Being that Valley was a small dealership I wouldnt think they would have sold too many 396 65 corvettes (not that anyone did considering they only made 2157 of them) Do you have any pictures or memoribilia from the dealer? Or know of anyone who may have worked there that could remember the car??

      Thanks,
      Matt.

        Hi Matt,
Yes, it was Daytona Blue with a brite blue interior.
I don't have anything from the original location. I was still in college then, and made enough working at Bethlehem Steel that Summer, to buy the car. Life was so new and sweet then, that I didn't think about saving anything from the car or dealer.
Send a pm to Rick; he may have someone who's a link to the dealership.
        Again ... Good Luck!
        Regards,
        Alan

Valley Chevrolet was located in Timonium, MD., on Padonia Road as I recall. I bought a 72 Corvette coupe from them used in 1974.

After some period of time ????, Valley Chevrolet became Rob Ryan Chevrolet in the same location. It then became Fox Chevrolet of Timonium.

I don't know if this is/was a myth, but I was told that Valley Chevrolet was sold directly to Fox, but because of some Maryland law, Fox couldn't have two Chevy stores within the same geographic area. Thus they named the dealership "Rob Ryan Chevrolet". There was no person named "Rob Ryan". Rob and Ryan were supposedly the first names of the sons of the owner of Fox Chevrolet.

When the law changed, it became Fox Chevrolet of Timonium. Fox has another Chevy store around the Security Blvd area of Baltimore.

Jim McDonald was a salesman there when I bought my 72. He belonged to the Corvette Club of Baltimore, of which I was a member. Bought it from Jim. He's still around, still a Corvette guy. Not sure if he worked there as far back as 65, as Jim is younger than me (65), so he would have been a kid in 65 himself.

Jim is into promos, model cars, etc. He goes to all the shows in/around Baltimore. EMail Rick Aleshire, as Alan Struck suggests.

I still have the invoice from Valley from when I bought the 72. If anyone owns a 72 coupe, VIN 1Z37K2S522605, you can have it.
